چکیده

This document is the deliverable 1.3 of French ANR CALAMAR. It presents a study of different formalisms used for modelling and analyzing large molecular regulation networks, their formal links, in terms of mutual encodings and of abstractions, and the corresponding levels of detail captured. Key-words: regulation networks, expressivity, abstraction, formalisms, modelling ANR CALAMAR ANR-08-SYSC-003 Compositional modelling and Analysis of LArge MoleculAr Regulatory networks

Rainfall-runoff modelling using artificial neural networks (ANNs): modelling and understanding

In recent years, artificial neural networks (ANNs) have become one of the most promising tools in order to model complex hydrological processes such as the rainfall-runoff process. In many studies, ANNs have demonstrated superior results compared to alternative methods. ANNs are able to map underlying relationship between input and output data without prior understanding of the process under in...

Multi-Paradigm Language Engineering and Equation-Based Object-Oriented Languages

Models are invariably used in Engineering (for design) and Science (for analysis) to precisely describe structure as well as behaviour of systems. Models may have components described in different formalisms, and may span different levels of abstraction. In addition, models are frequently transformed into domains/formalisms where certain questions can be easily answered. We introduce the term “...

Monthly runoff forecasting by means of artificial neural networks (ANNs)

Over the last decade or so, artificial neural networks (ANNs) have become one of the most promising tools formodelling hydrological processes such as rainfall runoff processes. However, the employment of a single model doesnot seem to be an appropriate approach for modelling such a complex, nonlinear, and discontinuous process thatvaries in space and time. For this reason, this study aims at de...

Evaluation of loading efficiency of azelaic acid-chitosan particles using artificial neural networks

Objective(s): Chitosan, a biodegradable and cationic polysaccharide with increasing applications in biomedicine, possesses many advantages including mucoadhesivity, biocompatibility, and low-immunogenicity. The aim of this study, was investigating the influence of pH, ratio of azelaic acid/chitosan and molecular weight of chitosan on loading efficiency of azelaic acid in chitosan particles. Mat...

Combining ontological and temporal formalisms for composite activity modelling and recognition in smart homes

Activity recognition is essential in providing activity assistance for users in smart homes. While significant progress has been made for single-user single-activity recognition, it still remains a challenge to carry out real-time progressive composite activity recognition. This paper introduces a hybrid ontological and temporal approach to composite activity modelling and recognition by extend...
